Letters (Letterland / Babblarna)

Letterland and Babblarna are two programs that we use to help the children to develop and expand their language skills.

What is Letterland/Babblarna?

Letterland

Letterland is a unique, phonics-based approach to teaching recognizing the alphabet. The Letterland characters transform plain black letter shapes into child-friendly pictograms and they all live in an imaginary place called Letterland. Simple stories about the Letterland characters, explain the full range of dry phonics facts so that children are motivated to listen, to think and to learn. These stories explain letter sounds & shapes, allowing children to progress quickly to word building, reading and writing. 

Babblarna

Babblarna är ett färgglatt gäng som tagit Sverige med storm, men de är mer än ett gäng skojiga sötnosar… De kan verkligen hjälpa barn i deras tidiga språkutveckling! I leken i Babblarnas värld, när barnen lyssnar och härmar Babblarna, utvecklas barnens eget språk.

 

How are we going to implement the programs in the pedagogical planning?

We are going to use the material and the characters of the the programs in order to:

• make projects (example Bibbi/Bilar)
• create stories (ex. Sammy Snake)
• make theater shows
• do crafts
• sing songs and dance
• go on Outings

What is the goal?

The goal of the activities which are based on those two programs is:

• recognize English and Swedish letters
• familiriaze with the sounds of the letters
• improve children's pronunciation
