During The Power of Language, you are going to learn to use the three rhetorical appeals ethos, pathos and logos, figures of speech and listen to debates from the show The Great Debate in order to participate in a live ~4-6 minutes debate. The main skills that you will improve are listening, adaptation, speaking and discussing.

The debate speech is read. Reading the majority of the speech from cue cards or a script will not pass for speaking but as an example of reading. Frequent language issues, such as repetition or grammar mistakes.
Frequently read cue cards or script which makes me stutter and lose eye contact. Mostly correct, but simple, language with occasional variation. Minor grammatical mistakes.
Fluent by keeping eye contact most of the time, however needing my cue cards or script. I do not repeat the same words, unless rhetorically. I add a few details, such as adverbs and adjectives. Only a few grammatical issues.
Fluent by keeping continuous eye contact and rarely used cue cards or script. Varied and detailed vocabulary with many adjectives and adverbs. Grammatically correct and many compound-complex sentences.

Discuss the topic by using rhetorical appeals and SEAL.
