1. Why does Junior draw cartoons? What does this tell us about Junior? Give some examples from the book.
2. Which cartoon do you like the best? Why?
3. What does Junior identify as the worst thing about being poor? 
4. Arnold says, “And hey, in a weird way, being hungry makes food taste better” (Alexie 8). What does this statement show us about Junior?
5. Do Junior's parents love him and care about him? Give at least 4 examples from the book.
6. Describe Rowdy and Junior’s relationship. What do they do for each other? Give examples Do you think Rowdy and Junior will remain friends? Explain.
7. Who is Mr P? How is he as a person and as a teacher? How does Mr P help Junior?

19. I liked the part in the chapter called Slouching toward Thanksgiving where Gordy says "You should get a boner! You have to get a boner" (Alexie 97). Why do you think I liked that page/pages/cartoon?
