What determines how I percieve my own identity? In what ways is my identity defined by others? What factors might cause an identity change or stay the same?

 

IDENTITY

 

 

What determines how I percieve my own identity? In what ways is my identity defined by others? What factors might cause an identity change or stay the same?

In our first project of this year, The Identity Project, we will try to answer these questions and others as well.

 

The following pieces are to be included in your project:

 

  • Your own poem : You can create not only individual poems but also a collective one.

  • This I am: this will be the writing part of your project (personal and compulsory)

 

  • One thing photo essay: here you will take a picture of yourself with the one thing that you value most.

  • Bucket- list: this is a list containing 10 things that you like to do before ending the 9th grade.

  • Memory letter: write a heart felt letter to someone that is important to you with specific memories tied to it.

  • Masks: You can make masks in plast or other material either during your art classes or the handycraft classes. You can decorate on the outside how we are around people, and on the inside how we are when we are alone.

 

Beside the compulsory text that everybody will write, you have the option to present your chosen pieces (you are to choose at least 2 of the above mentioned) in any way you want: scrapbooks, handmade boxes, binders, a portfolio, these are only a few suggestions from me but feel free to come with your own as well.

 

On the 5th of October, when this project will end, you will be able to present your work in an exhibition and, of course, you will get a grade for what you have achieved during these weeks.

We start English this year by working with a project, entitled Identity;

During the next 5 weeks (35-39) you will study/work with the following texts in the BB:

Get organized: BB p.10-11

The cost of cool: BB p. 12-13

Numerology: BB p. 14-15

Personality: BB p 16 (compulsory)

Friendships: BB p. 17 (compulsory)

Feelings: BB p 50 (compulsory)

Skills: BB p 84. (compulsory)

 

The vocabulary that you will learn while working with the above mentioned texts will help you write your own text:

This I am (compulsory) and complete the other tasks which you will choose to work with in this project.

 

Goals:

-to be able to talk and write about yourself: who you are, what your interests are, skills (what you are good at), traits of character (personality) What you like or/and dislike. What you appreciate most at a friend, etc.

Shortly, what you think about yourself, who you are.

 

You will be assessed by:

 

-your participation in discussions during classes.

-different quizes that you'll get: vocabulary and others.

-the text: ”This I am”.

-the way you accomplish the tasks of this project.

-its final presentation.
