Holes, week 49-6

You will work with the book "Holes". When we work with this theme you will practice reading strategies and show your reading abilities. In the end you will discuss the book in groups of 3-4 students.

Material: 

* Fully charged Ipad

You will gain knowledge by: 

* Reading (and/or listen to) the book "Holes"

* Working with reading strategies

* Answering questions to the book 

* Discuss the book in small groups

During these weeks you will read (and/or listen to) the book "Holes". There are several questions you are supposed to answer (see exercise and schedule below). As a final assignment you will discuss in groups of 3-4 students about the book (see exercise and schedule below). 

Schedule: 

Week 49 - Introduction, read the book 

Week 50 - Continue to read the book and answer questions

Week 2 -   Read and answer questions

Week 3 -   Read and answer questions 

Week 4 -   Read and answer questions 

Week 5 -   Answer questions 

Week 6 -   Finish and hand in questions at Unikum (Monday) Prepare discussion (Tuesday) 

Response list:

Correct vocabulary in the sentence (she’s/her)

Grammar mistakes (is/are, was/were, have/has, wordorder, verb tenses)

Spelling mistakes (whit = with, to/too, your/you’re, its/it’s, meat/meet

Spoken and written language (gonna-going to, wanna-want to, you-u)

* Then make sure you have;
a capital (stor) letter in the beginning of every sentence and capital letter on I in a sentence.
full stop(punkt) in the end of every sentence
no really long sentences. Use full stop and commas.

* If you use abbreviations (förkortningar) (it’s, wasn’t etc., make sure you put the apostrophe in the right place (not its).
If you are unsure about how to use abbreviations, just write it is, was not etc.

* Look for variation in your text
How to begin a sentence (not too many I, he, she) 
You mustn’t begin a sentence with and, but etc. (these are linking words). 
Use a variation of difficult words and expressions. 
* Look for correct preposition words, i.e. angry with (not at), look at (not on).

OBS! Before you hand in your text you let at least (minst) one person read your text!

You are supposed to prepare and discuss following questions. 1. Could this have happened in Sweden? Why/Why not? 2. What did you think of the story. Describe, explain and motivate your answers. 3. What similarities and differences are there between the book and your own experiences
