This is a group project where each group gets a country to do research on. Two parts are included: a written assignment and an oral presentation.
Instructions for project work, English speaking countries
Groups of four.
Instructions:
First step: Each group gets a country. The task is to find facts on some specific topics that have to do with the country and make comparisons with Sweden. The topics are: 1. Facts on the capital city, 2. typical food and traditions,3. government and head of state,4. History.
You divide the topics between the group members
Each group member also picks out some optional ”fun fact” to tell about.
Each group member writes their own text on the topic that they get responsible for, plus the fun fact.
When putting your texts together, use as many irregular verbs as possible. Mark them.
We will spend four weeks on doing this project. (eight lessons). Then you mail your personal texts to me.
The text must contain the following parts;
1. Introduction part; present the topic and what it´s going to be about.
2. Body; here you display the facts and the comparisons with Sweden, plus your ”fun fact”.
3. Conclusions; you sum up the most interesting thoughts and facts that you have learned as well as your own reflections on the matters.
Use your best (and your own) English, copying not allowed.
Write as thoroughly and detailedly as possible.
Strive to vary your vocabulary through synonyms and altered sentence structures.
Check your spelling and grammar.
Focus: irregular verbs. Use as many as possible. Mark them in your text to show awareness of them.
Second step, starts week 10: Each group presents their country and the facts that they have found, in class. To make a vivid and captivating presentation, use Key Note to show all kinds of pictures that are relevant for your speech.
