You will be working in groups of two or three. You are going on a virtual holiday to a country that has English as its first or official language. Each group gets to choose its own country. You will be away for two weeks. For this assignment, you will need to use the internet, your imagination and have at least one other person to discuss the virtual trip with.

Find a map of the country and write a little about: • Population/Languages/Geography/Weather • History • Culture Part B - Budget Write a one-page budget for your trip. This is what you expect to spend your money on. Use the internet to find out the prices and names of different things, for example flight tickets, accommodation, transport etc. Item Cost Tickets-Thai Airways Hotel -Quality Hotel, Melbourne 3 nights Hotel - The …. Part C - Sources List the internet sites that you have used for this assignment. Here are a couple of useful websites to start with: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/ The online version of the well known travel book. There is loads of information here. You can even get your tickets priced and get a printout of the route. Check it out. https://www.flygresor.se/ Find out the cost of your flight. https://www.momondo.se/ Find accommodation. Note: Please don't copy sentences directly from the internet. Write the information in your own words. Part D - Letters Each person is to write three letters to a friend or a family member at different times during the trip. To do this you will all need to have worked out a common story for your trip. You might like to write about some of these things: o what you do o how you feel o where you stay o how you travel around o how you get information o who you meet o food o parties o funny things that happen o relations between you and your friend o weather o animals o customs Here is an idea of what the first letter might look like: 23 March 2018 Dear Anna, We are finally here! It's really hard to believe. Even though I should be tired after the long flight I just can't sleep. We are in India now and this is what I've longed for such a long time. Everything seems to be different here from home: the clothes, the buildings, the smells, the roads. The pulse of the city is really intensive. We had a bit of a rough start though. When we went to pick up our bags from the plane one of them was missing. So we had to run around and ask lots of questions about it and fill out forms saying that it hadn't arrived. That took ages. But in the end they found it and nothing was missing. Luckily people were helpful. As you know, we pre-booked a cheap hotel in Delhi. It's called Hotel Chand Palace, and it costs just US$12 per night for a double room. I'm sitting in our room now and watching the sun go down over the city. It's actually a hangout for backpackers like us. This afternoon we met some really friendly people from Brazil and tomorrow we are going to have breakfast with them. Anyway, I'd better go to sleep. Tomorrow John and I are planning to go and check out some spectacular Indian architecture. We are going to see The Red Fort, which was built for the Mughal King Shan Jahan. And of course we'll do a bit of shopping. We are planning to go to Chandni Chowk (Moonlight Square), which is a really old and popular market here so we have heard.
