During this unit you will work with health in different ways. You will also work on developing your ability to read, listen, speak and write.

Why health?

What is health? When does healthy become unhealthy? Health is an issue that is not entirely easy. That is why it is important to reflect on. We are fed different opinions of what health is from home, advertising, school etc. During this unit you will read texts, discuss and write about health in different ways. While doing that you will also work on developing your abilities to read, listen, speak and write.

Describe a lifestyle that you think is healthy and one that is unhealthy. What types of food and what drinks do you associate with each lifestyle? What spare time activities?

The importance of looking good

1. Reading the text In the text "The importance of looking good" (pp. 38-40) you can read about the pressure to look a certain way in society. Answer these questions: a) What does "Don't judge a book by its cover" mean (in English)? b) According to the text, what can happen to people if they care too much about the way they look? Find an advertisement or a movie clip online that you think contributes to the pressure of "looking good" in some way. 2. Drug testing - yes or no?

The party - what really happened to Alice

In "The party" you can read Alice's diary entries (true story or not). You only learn about what happens from the narrator's (Alice's) point of view and from what she actually decides to write in her diary. Then, she suddently stops writing and after that her parents find her dead. Write about what you think really happened to Alice after she stopped writing in her diary. Title: "The party - what really happened to Alice" Possible beginning: Let me tell you about what really happened to Alice.
