Rödabergsskolan, Stockholm Grundskolor · Senast uppdaterad: 22 augusti 2019

TYPES OF TEXT: TRADITION, FORM & FUNCTION - THE POEM Every day we encounter thousands of words. They come at us, and from us, in many forms. How do we understand the message based on the form in which it comes? How do we decide which forms to use? We study some of the different types of text around us, and their conventions. This unit covers poetry and poetic writing.

CONTENT

We will be studying a variety of poetic texts, including some that interact with other forms of artistic expression, such as music and art.

We will read and analyse the form, content and context of poems, experiment with creating our own poetic texts, work with translating between English and Swedish, and tackle typical translation issues, such as register, translation tools, and idiomatic expression.
