Instructions for factual text: Factual texts inform, instruct or persuade by giving facts and information. You are supposed to describe the Amish people of America, using own words and sources.

A factual text begins with a title, then an introductory statement. Then you describe various facts about the Amish people (fashion, religion, views on technology etc.) A factual text ends with a concluding statement (usually a summary of the most important parts). Remember to use paragraphs!

Instructions for short story: Short stories are usually written in past tense. I want you to write your short story in past tense! Describe places, characters! Use your five senses while describing (taste, sight, hearing, smell, touch). Use this webpage to help you: http://writershelpingwriters.net/2010/10/emotion-thesaurus-entry-collection-samples/

Also, use paragraphs.

If you choose this assignment, then your story needs to have this premise. The rest is up to you!

David is traveling through America on his way to Pennsylvania for a vacation. His brother lives there. After being involved in an accident in which his car breaks down, he walks to a small isolated community nearby in need of help. The story centers on his encounters with the Amish people living in that community. What does he see? What does he learn? Who are the Amish people?

Feedback will be given along the process on forming your draft.
