Matilda Wormwood is only five years old, but she is a genius. Unfortunately her parents are too stupid to even notice. Worse, her horrible headmistress Miss Trunchbull is a bully who makes life difficult for Matilda's teacher, Miss Honey, and her friends. But what Miss Trunchbull doesn't know is that Matilda has a trick or two up her sleeve...

Vi kommer att läsa boken "Matilda" (och även så småningom titta på filmen). I samband med att eleverna läser boken kommer ni även att arbeta med ett häfte med uppgifter och så småningom delta i en bokdiskussion (i en mindre grupp) och skriva en karaktärbeskrivning.
Uppgift 1.
Book discussion
You will be working together/discussing in groups (4-5 people per group):
1. Was the book the way you had expected (förväntat dig)?
2. Could you recommend this book? Explain why / why not.
3.Describe Charlie or Willy Wonka with five words.
4. If you were to change one thing in the book, what would you change?
5. Did you like the ending? Explain your thoughts.
6. If you got to meet Roald Dahl, what would you ask him?
7. Take turns and describe the other characters in the book;
8. Choose 1 situation in the book you found funny/sad or important for the story and retell it to the group.
9. (extra) Pick and choose your favorite quotation (citat) from the book and explain why.
Uppgift 2.
Write a character description
We have read the book “Matilda” You are going to write a description of either Harry or Willy Wonka. You can decide who to write about depending on which of the two you like the best, or perhaps which you think is interesting, strange, or even mean. Think about the following questions (and use your mind map/notes) while writing your text:
What good and bad qualities does the character have?
What is special about the character (both his/her physical appearance but also his personality)?
Why are you interested in this character? What “speaks to you” or interests you about this character?
In what ways did this character grow/develop from the beginning to the end of the book?
Is this character someone you would like to have as a friend? Why or why not?
