Imagine that you wake up in a strange place you´ve never seen, not knowing how you got there, not even remembering who you are, then finding yourself surrounded by a group of boys your own age. This is what happens to Thomas, in “The Maze Runner”. Trying to get out of the maze and understanding how they got to this strange place and who their enemies are is what keeps the boys going, in this novel.

Plan Reading Project English Year 8 – ”The Maze Runner”
Imagine that you wake up in a strange place you´ve never seen, not knowing how you got there, not even remembering who you are, then finding yourself surrounded by a group of boys your own age. This is what happens to Thomas, in “The Maze Runner”.
Trying to get out of the maze and understanding how they got to this strange place and who their enemies are is what keeps the boys going, in this novel.
Purpose
Reading fiction has a number of rewards:
· It allows you to travel in time and space, without having to move your body or pay any money. It captures your fantasy and your feelings, and is entertaining, if you like the story.
· It develops your reading flow.
· It gives you something substantial to reflect about and to compare with your own experiences. And it´s a good foundation for discussions.
· It builds up your vocabulary, your grammar and your supply of phrases.

Write a reasoning, reflective text about "The Maze Runner". Choose themes, events - write your thoughts about them. Explain as clearly as you can!

Chapters 4-6
1. Why do you think Gally picks on Thomas so much? Do you consider Gally a bully? Why or why not? How does a bully decide who he/she will target?
