Objectives: The student understands

• various ways that animals depend on plants for survival
• that energy is transferred to living organisms through the food they eat
• that organisms are growing, dying and decaying
• that changes in the habitat of an organism may be beneficial or harmful

Assessment:

By going through the chapter review, checkpoint questions and scaffolded questions in the Teacher Manuel, the teacher helps the student define and understand the following:

• •  producer, consumer, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, prey and predator
  • decomposer and decay
