Book report English 6 SA19A

In this assignment, your are going to choose a novel, read it, and present it to a group.

1. Choose a group of 3-5 people to work with.
2. Please find the book list in the English Team. Choose one of the books. The group members should have different books. Follow the instructions in the list for borrowing the book from the library. 
3. The group signs up for a presentation date in the document in the file archive in the English Team. Fill out your names and which books you are reading. 
4. We will spend some lessons reading the book, but you might also need to read on your own as homework.  
5. Prepare for doing an oral presentation to your group, by making keywords. 
6. On the presentation date, present the book by bringing up the information below. The presentation should take about five minutes. 

 

• Mention the title and author.

• A description of the characters.

  • Who is the main character

  • The minor characters?

  • What are they like? Direct and indirect characterization.

• The setting

  • Where does the story take place?

  • When does the story take place?

• A summary of the plot: What happens in the story?. Remember to also include how the book ends.

• The structure

  •  Who is the narrator

  • Are there any subplots

  • Are events described in chronological order

• Is there a theme or message in the book: What is the topic in the book? What does the author want to say with the book do you think?

• A comment on the language in the book

  • formal/informal

  • difficult/easy words

  • dialect; slang

  • long/short sentences

• Your opinion of the book. Motivate and explain your opinion and give examples from the book.

• Remember to use examples and quotes to help you present the above.

   

The rest of the group:

• Prepare to ask at least one discussion question to the speaker while listening. The questions could for example be about any of the questions above, how the speaker would act in a situation from the book, or the speaker’s opinion about one of the characters.
