Informative Speech 7- 10 minutes

"An informative speech is one that intends to educate the audience on a particular topic. The main goal of an informative speech is to provide enlightenment regarding a specific topic the audience knows nothing about. The goal of this type of speech isn’t to sway the audience to the speaker’s point of view." (lumenlearning.com, nd)

Since this part of the course is going to result in you presenting an Informative Speech, we will begin every lesson with short impromptu speeches.

Examination: Informative Speech

You are going to write a script and present an Informative Speech (pages 117-119 in Echo English 7) related to one of the topics, sleep or money. Choose one of the two assignments:

Sleep

The article, Sleep ’resets’ brain connections crucial for memory and learning, study reveals (Pages 26-29), asks "Why do we sleep?" and provides some answers. Using the article  as a starting point, find out more information about this topic and prepare a speech in which you outline some (two or three) main theories that could help answer this question.

Money

The monetary experiment described in the article, Should We Trash Cash? (Pages 48-52), took place in November 2016. Find out information about the experiment and its effects, and describe the current situation in india. Prepare a speech in which you include information about :

• How has the use of cash been affected?
• What difficulties and opportunities have followed from the experiment?
• How have people reacted to it?

All sources used must of course be in English.
