A tapestry of American History

Your assignment is to, in pairs, choose a topic from the list on the next page and do some research on it and later present your findings orally to your classmates. There are 12 different topics to choose from. I have already decided the pairs that you will work in.

You shall explain one historic event, the place and the people involved. To some events there may not be a specific person or place connected. 

I want you to prepare a poster that you will use when you present your topic orally to the class. You will have 3 lessons at your hand to work with the assignment. Deadline for the assignment is Thursday 7 October 2021, that is when you start your presentations. You can illustrate the poster (A3-format) with printouts and your own writing and drawings - but .as little text as possible and as much free speech as possible from you 

Your classmates will be getting the opportunity to ask questions on your presentation, as will I when you are done so make sure that you are prepared to answer them afterwards. This means that you will do a lot of research about your topic.

Here are some questions to think about when you prepare your presentation:

• What happened? Describe!
• When and where did it happen?
• Background - why did this happen? For instance, the hippie movement - what led to this, what were the causes? What do you think / what does the research say?

• Who was/were involved? Describe their position in the society!
• What was the issue?
• What were the consequences?
• Please state your sources

I do not want you to read directly from the poster when you present but you are allowed to have bullet points when you present.

In your group/pair: you have to decide:

who does/do the research? Who will explain which question? Have you covered and can you explain all the questions above? Try to understand the deeper causes of your phenomenon. For instance: why do you think the moonlanding took place in the year 1969? Were there favourable circumstances then? And which circumstances were they? Think deep - think one step ahead. Try to understand!

Kriterier

• Eleven visar sin förståelse genom att översiktligt redogöra för, diskutera och kommentera innehåll och detaljer samt genom att med godtagbart resultat agera utifrån budskap och instruktioner i innehållet.
• Eleven kan välja texter och talat språk från olika medier samt med viss relevans använda det valda materialet i sin egen produktion och interaktion.
• I muntliga framställningar i olika genrer kan eleven formulera sig enkelt, begripligt och relativt sammanhängande.
• För att förtydliga och variera sin kommunikation kan eleven bearbeta och göra enkla förbättringar av egna framställningar.
• Dessutom kan eleven välja och använda sig av i huvudsak fungerande strategier som i viss mån löser problem i och förbättrar interaktionen.
• Eleven diskuterar översiktligt några företeelser i olika sammanhang och områden där engelska används, och kan då också göra enkla jämförelser med egna erfarenheter och kunskaper.
