”How to become a guide”

You are going to guide a sight in the area of Domnarvet and also make a brochure with pictures and text.

Mål

• förstå och tolka innehållet i talad engelska och i olika slags texter,
• formulera sig och kommunicera i tal och skrift,
• använda språkliga strategier för att förstå och göra sig förstådda,
• anpassa språket efter olika syften, mottagare och sammanhang, och

You will work with this Project week 37-40, ht 17. Your guided tours will be held during w.40-42.

What to do

You are going to:

• find information - about something Worth seeing in our surrounding area
• writing - make a brochure where you collect interesting and valid information
• speaking - do a guided tour and show your sight(s)
• use strategies - to solve problems and to improve the interaction
• adapt your language - to the purpose and situation

Method

How to work with this:

• work with a friend
• you start by deciding what you will talk about
• find information about your subject, from the library, the internet or other people (as much as you can)
• sort out and put interesting and valid information into a brochure (hand in first version for correction at the latest on Tuesday w.39), add pictures
• prepare and practise your guided tour by guiding each other, both inside and outside at your spot
• make sure you check what date you are given for your tour
• this work is to be done in class, during HEL and as individual homework

Examination

Make sure your working plan is well thought-out since this will be a period where you are given much freedeom. Your brochure must be ready to hand out ont the ate for your tour and you need to be well-prepared! Make sure you have rehearsed your tour properly. You are allowed to use keywords but no reading from the brochure.

Grading

• Your writing skills willl be measured as a group through your brochure, we will look at the content, the layout and how you use the brochure during the guided tour.
• Your speaking skills will be measured on an individual basis, that is, your choice of words and phrases, fluency, variation and pronunciation.
• We will also look at how well you adapt to the purpose and the situation.

• Talad engelska och texter från olika medier.
• Talad engelska med viss regional och social färgning.
• Muntliga och skriftliga instruktioner och beskrivningar.
• Muntlig och skriftlig information samt diskussioner och argumentation med olika syften, till exempel nyheter, reportage och tidningsartiklar.
• Strategier för att uppfatta detaljer och sammanhang i talat språk och texter, till exempel att anpassa lyssnande och läsning efter framställningens form, innehåll och syfte.
• Olika sätt att söka, välja och värdera texter och talat språk på engelska från Internet och andra medier.
• Språkliga företeelser som uttal, intonation, grammatiska strukturer, satsbyggnad, ord med olika stilvärden samt fasta språkliga uttryck i det språk eleverna möter.  

Tala, skriva och samtala- produktion och interaktion

• Olika sätt att bearbeta egna framställningar för att variera, tydliggöra, precisera och anpassa dem efter deras syften.
• Muntliga och skriftliga berättelser, beskrivningar och instruktioner.
• Samtal och diskussioner samt argumentation.
• Språkliga strategier för att förstå och göra sig förstådd när språket inte räcker till, till exempel omformuleringar, frågor och förklaringar.
