Journey - Write an unwritten book

Pupils work either in groups or individually to create a text to a picture book that was published without any words

The book 'Journey' by Aaron Becker was released in 2013. The following description comes from Amazon:

Journey work plan

Step one: In groups, look through the examples of children's literature that you have been given. Discuss the following questions: 1. Do the books have anything in common? 2. How would you describe the language? 3. If you were to write a children's book, what would you have to think about? 4. As a group, agree on a favourite, or argue for your favourite if someone disagrees. What makes this book the favourite of the group? Step two: In the same groups, look through the book Journey. Your task is to create a suitable text for an imagined texted version of the book. You have to agree on which style the text should be written, whether we hear a narrator's voice or whether it is written in first person. Your text will then be presented as a group in class and read aloud as part of a group presentation. In your presentation you should describe the work process, how and why you came up with your point of view (first/third person), and how you interpreted the story. The story should also be read aloud. You will also be asked to assess your own part of the group process, describing clearly how you were involved in the group work..
