Kipper A-Z

Pre literacy skills: Phonics and Letter naming. Students will strengthen their knowledge of the English alphabet. Through this text we will compare and contrast English and Swedish letter names and reflect on the number of sounds in English (42) and the number of letters (26) and develop an understanding of phonics (sounds) and their links to graphemes (letters and letter combinations).

Stage 1: The teacher will guide Reading of text and lead discussion throughout. Students will be encouraged to reflect on the sounds that can be made by each letter.

Stage 2: Students will reflect on the differences between the English and the Swedish alphabets

Stage 3: Students will be asked to find high frequency sight Words from the text.
