Hunger Games, week 17-22

During the following weeks you will work with the movie "Hunger games". You will work with writing and speaking exercises. Finally, you are going to make a comparison between the text "Theus and the minotaur" and the movie.

Hunger Games

After watching the movie you will:

* Answer questions from the movie

* Improve your text (see response list below)

* Prepare for a discussion in groups 

* Read "Theus and the minotaur" and make a comparison to the movie

Schedule:

Week 16 -  Introduction and watching the movie

Week 17 -  Finish the movie and start working with questions

Week 18 -  Work with response list 

week 19 -   No lessons 

Week 20 -  PRAO

Week 21 -  Finish questions, work with response list and linking words, hand in at Unikum (Thursday), make the comparison part (Friday) 

Week 22 -  Hand in comparison (Thursday) 

Response list:

* Correct vocabulary in the sentence (she’s/her)

* Grammar mistakes (is/are, was/were, have/has, wordorder, verb tenses)

* Spelling mistakes (whit = with, to/too, your/you’re, its/it’s, meat/meet

* Spoken and written language (gonna-going to, wanna-want to, you-u)

* Then make sure you have; - a capital (stor) letter in the beginning of every sentence and capital letter on I in a sentence. - dot (punkt) in the end of every sentence - Not too long sentences, use dots and commas

* If you use abbreviations (förkortningar) (it’s, wasn’t etc., make sure you put the apostrophe in the right place (not its). If you are unsure about how to use abbreviations, just write it is, was not etc.

* Look for variation in your text How to begin a sentence (not too many I, he, she) You mustn’t begin a sentence with and, because etc. (these are linking words).

* Use a variation of difficult words and expressions.

* Look for correct preposition words, i.e. angry with (not at), look at (not on).

OBS! Before you hand in your text you let at least (minst) one person read your text!

You will make a comparison between the text and the movie you have seen. What are the similarities and differences? You write down your thoughts in a document and hand in here at Unikum. Below you see the link. You decide if you would like to read and/or listen to the text.

Questions to the movie, Hunger games

Task 1: Warm up! Answer question 1-13! Some of the questions can be answered with just a few sentences while a few of them gives you the chance to discuss, give different reasons/suggestions/opinions and examples from the movie. How would you describe Katniss? Both personality and appearance. Feel free to give examples from the movie to support your description. Is there a hero in Hunger Games? Is there more than one hero? How is he or she portrayed in this movie? Explain as thoroughly as possible what the Hunger Games are and why did the Capitol start the game? Katniss lives in District Coal (district 12). Describe what it looks like there by using examples from the movie. What is the reaping and happens at the reaping this year? Why do you think the movie is called Hunger Games? Discuss your opinion/suggestions by giving examples from the movie. The purpose of the game is to try to survive, either by trying to kill your enemies or stay away until someone else kill them, at the same time try to find food and shelter. Do you think there is a survival instinct in all of us? Why is it so important for the contestants to be liked by the people in the Capitol? The playmakers control the Hunger Games in different ways. Give a few examples on of how they control it. What are tracker jackers. What do you think would happen if the contestants refuse to play in the games? Why do you think they obey (lyder) every year? In the middle of the movie one of the leaders change the rules of the Games: You are now allowed to have 2 winners if they are from the same district. What do you think about this? Is it fair to change the rules? What do you think is the cruelest part of the Hunger Game? Feel free to give examples from the movie when you explain.
