The Great Britain Project
These last couple of weeks we will work on a project about the three countries and 1 region making up the United Kingdom; Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland. Your main task is to collect facts about specific topics of one of them and present it to your classmates.
You will present this in class together with the ones that have studied the same country but different topics. You'll need to make a short PowerPoint to aid you when you present your topics.
You need to connect and compare your findings with something similar in Sweden.
Timetable:
Start: week 20- final presentation week 23
Week 20 start by picking a country and 2 topics. Start gathering facts.
Week 21 continue work on your presentation
Week 22 after this week’s lessons your PowerPoint needs to be done and e-mailed to me. I will then combine it into a bigger one for each country!
Finish: Week 23 Present your PowerPoint in front of the class.

· Create a PowerPoint on the facts you have collected. (Use pictures and only a little text)

· Take notes and ask questions when listening to your classmates’ presentations.

Below you find a list giving some suggestions on what to focus on for each topic.
- Geography –where is the country located, type of landscape, weather, population, flag, national parks, highest mountain, number of lakes etc…
History – here you can give information about interesting historic events, of which the U.K. has plenty! The battle of Hastings 1066 is a classic one for example. The plan to bomb the Parliament is another one, or why not tell the story about Henry VIII and his queens.
Traditions – Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Easter, Guy Fawke’s Day, Saint Patrick’s Day for example.
Cities / Sights – info on the biggest or most interesting cities in the country, famous places, Must see stuff in a few different cities. Don’t forget to mention why you choose specific cities!
Food – traditional dishes, deserts, drinks! What satisfies those British tastebuds?
Sports- what types of sports are popular? Cricket, Rugby, Polo, Tennis, Horse racing and of course football.
Famous People – writers, kings and queens, politicians, actors or inventors etc.
Music / Art – famous artists, painters and bands. Traditional folk music.
