This literature module is composed of a series of activities that will provide you with the opportunity to improve your performance in the major skills areas in English.

In addition to reading the novel Ready Player One, by Ernest Cline, you will:

1. Keep a reading/writing journal in which you reflect over the various elements of the novel, including but not limited to plot, characterization, structure, themes, symbolism, and style. To assist you in this task you will be provided study questions that will help you to reflect over the content of the novel as well as prepare you for group discussions. 

2. Engage in group discussions for each unit of the literature module. These group discussions are to be recorded and provided for assessment. The group discussions have as their starting point the study and discussion questions provided to you. However, you are encouraged to take the discussion where it leads as long as it remains relevant to the content of the novel. For example, linking events or situations in the novel to current events or issues of importance in contemporary society is encouraged. 

3. Provide written responses to a select number of the study and discussion questions after you have had a chance to engage in group discussions. Further, you will be required to perform citation analysis in written form for select citations from the novel. 

4. Work to master a series of vocabulary lists provided to you via the website www.vocabulary.com. Links and instructions are provided to you in the instructions for each set of vocabulary assignments in this module. 

5. Complete the "Create Your Own Almanac" project, which will require you to develop a digital presentation that will accompany an oral presentation to the class.

All relevant information for this literature module is located in your OneNote Class Notebook. Schedules, including dates for assignment submissions and group discussions as well as your "Create Your Own Almanac" project, will be available in both Unikum and in your OneNote Class Notebook. Ready Player One - Ernest Cline - Group Discussion - Unit 4

You will engage in a group discussion in your assigned discussion groups. You are to use the study and discussion questions provided to you for each unit as the starting point for your discussion. However, you are encouraged to develop your discussions to take account of issues or ideas that are relevant to the novel. You are to record your group discussion and then upload the file.

You are required to answer five (5) of the study questions for this unit. You should keep the following in mind when you provide your written answers to these questions: a. Your answers should deal with specific content from the novel that addresses the questions in a meaningful way and that is connected to the novel's plot, characters, theme, structure, symbolism, etc. b. Your answers should provide an interpretation of the content in question via well-reasoned analysis. c. Your answers should provide contextualization of your interpretation(s) (among other possible interpretations) or, alternatively, link the content in question or the interpretation(s) you have provided to personal experience or a socio-political/cultural environment with which you have some experience or understanding of.
