Reversible reactions Almost all chemical reactions are reversible. The state in which the chemical activities or concentrations of the reactants and products do not change over time is referred to as chemical equilibrium. Another way of defining equilibrium is to say that a system is in equilibrium when the forward and reverse reactions occur at equal rates.
