14 year old Molly and her cousins Daisy and Gracie were mixed-race Aborigines. In 1931 they were taken from their families because they were mixed-race. During this period of time the white Europeans had a mission and that was to purify the half-casts and make them a part of their society. These people that were taken are called "The stolen generation". Moreover, they were brought to Moore River, a settlement and the story captures their journey as they escape the settleement to go back home.
