At the end of the 19th century, most scientists believed that matter was made up of tiny, invisible particles which we call atoms. How much we know about them today? While you can’t see, taste, or smell radiation, you encounter it in some form every day of your life. Wilhem Röntgen: the man who discovered the X-rays probably did not understand that the radiation is too big a dose. But we know that today. In coming weeks, we will work on atomic & nuclear physics and spend some time learning about basics of our universe, followed by energy supply. We will learn about the structure of the atom and how it works. We talk about historical discoveries and today's research about the atom. We will learn about how light emanates and different types of radiation that can both be useful and harmful to us. The energy we use today in eg. form of electricity and fuel for vehicles and more must come from somewhere.
