Writing a subjective news article expresing opinion supported with facts.

In reputable newspaper reporting, only the facts should be stated. A good journalist writes what can be supported as truth without being subjective.

In editorials, however, the writer may state his or her opinion. Here, the journalist attempts to convince the readers that his or her argument is the correct one. It is very much like a single-sided debate. One argues one’s opinion, presenting evidence and examples which attempt to defeat the argument of any opposing feeling or opinions.

Choose a topic to editorialize and write a 1-2 page argument presenting your opinion. Be she to include any facts which support your argument and attempt to defend your points from any opposing opinions which might weaken your case. Your job is to convince us that your opinion is right.

Be sure to book your topic with the teacher in advance as no two students may have the same topic.

Oral presentation: This editorial should be read from your written report as if you are a professional news anchorman or anchorwoman.
