In this unit we are going to read a book filled with drama, sex, drugs! You’ll love it, or maybe you’ll hate it. We will see! It’s quite “grown up” at times and deals with dark and mature matters. We will use the book, which is called “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, as a springboard for discussions about growing up, school, feelings and emotions, music and love.

Planning:

6 Fre: Deadline F-varning	Unit 5 Reading a novel: ·         Introduction to the unit.  ·         Listen to Charlies favourite song (1) together. What does it say about him?  ·         Discuss in groups the statements from the Anticipation guide (2).    ·         We’ll listen to the first part of the book together. P. 3-14 21min (ch. 1) + P. 14-29 25min (ch 2).	·         Homework till next week: Read to page 57 (Chapter 3+4).
7 Klasskonf. Åk1 Vinteridrott åk 2	Unit 5 Reading a novel: ·         Logbook (5). Listen/Read and work with your log.     ·         First book talk (6). Use your logs in the discussion.	·         Homework: Prepare your First book talk (6).   ·         Homework: Read to page 102 (finish part 2, chapter 8).
8 Klasskonf. Åk 2	Unit 5 Reading a novel: ·         We continue: First book talk (6). Use your logs in the discussion.  ·         Read and write logs.   ·         Listening comprehension (8). Listen and answer the questions.  ·         Teen Depression (9.1 + 9.2). Read and answer the questions. Discuss in groups.	·         Homework: Read to page 141/Finish listening to chapter 11.
10 Tor: u-samtal	Unit 5 Reading a novel: ·         Continue discussion about teen depression.  ·         Individually: Describe the characters in the book: Charlie, Patrick, Sam, Charlie’s family members. Find evidence in the book to prove your thoughts (quotes).    ·         Discussion in groups: Present your thoughts on the different characters to each other.	·         Homework: Finish your description of the characters.   ·         Homework: Read to page 196 (chapter 15).
11	Unit 5 Reading a novel:              ·         Write logs and read your book.	·         Homework: finish reading   the book (chapter 18).
12	Unit 5 Reading a novel:              ·         Watch movie.
