Food

There is no denying: food is all around us. We have different food cultures in different countries, but also in different homes. We talk about healthy food, unhealthy food, diets, the importance of breakfast etc. During this period we will work with food in different ways.

        

Why food?

Food is an important part of culture, which is why it is interesting to focus on it in English class. The aim of this unit is to develop the ability to:

- reflect on culture in areas where English is used.

- understand spoken English.

- write.

- read.

- speak.

In the classroom

We will work with words in different ways, read and write different texts, have discussions concerning food and listen to spoken English. We will also work a bit with grammar.

Grammar:

- Countable/uncountable nouns

- The simple past tense

Diary - practising the past simple

The simple past/past simple expresses what happened in the past (yesterday, last month, this morning etc.). When it comes to regular verbs you usually add -ed. For spelling rules check out the entry about this in Gleerups: https://gleerupsportal.se/laromedel/engelska-7-9/article/7af5a659-3ca1-482d-b30f-9073da5fcdd4. To practise the past simple, you will write a diary entry about yesterday. What did you do? When did you wake up? What did you have for breakfast? What happened at school? What did you have for lunch? What did you do after school? What did you have for dinner? When did you go to bed?

Write about 150-300 words.
