English year 9: Argumentative Text

In this unit, we will focus on argumentative texts. We will go through the structure of an argumentative text and read example texts. At the end of the unit, you will write an argumentative text of your own.

Purpose
The purpose of an argumentative text is to convince your audience of your opinion on a topic.
In this unit, you will practice your ability to express yourself and communicate in writing.

Time frame
Week 41-43

Process/Weekly schedule
Week 41:
Go through the structure, content and useful language of an argumentative text. Read an example text and discuss the text in class.
Week 42:
Individual research to prepare your own topic and review it in groups (peer-review) or with your teacher. 
Week 43:
Write your argumentative text (w. 37). You may bring one page (A4) with notes (key words, sources, statistics, etc,). 

Evaluation form
Your argumentative text as well as your participation in class.
