År 8, Let's Talk Family!

Welcome to a new term! We are going to start the semester with the theme " Family" The objectives with this theme are for you to be able to: 1. Become aware of the variety of families in your country and around the World. 2. Identify family relations. 3, Name members of a family 4. Express family relationships. 5. Learn the use of possessives, (page 131 worbook) 6. Relate information to personal experiences 7. Cooperate with others to complete tasks.

1. Syfte med undervisningen - Varför gör du det här? Vilken nytta har du av det?

The aim of this assignement is to get a better understanding of what a family life can be like in some English Speaking countries as well as in Sweden. You will get to improve your vocabulary with words connected to family. Your are expected to increase the ability to understand spoken and written English and learn how to write and answer letters in a proper way.

Besides all that you are also expected to: 

1. Be aware of the importance and the many shapes a family can have in today's society.

2. Further on, you are going to learn to distinguish the relevance of the assignments of the various responsibilities in a family.

3. Learn how to define Family.

4. Look at different kinds of families:

Nuclear family 

Matrifocal family, that is, families with one or more adults of the same gender and their children without the presence of a father.  

 Extended family, that is, a family that includes grandparents and other relatives.

 Blended family, that is, a famliy consisting of  a couple with their common children, and their children from previous relationships.

 

2. Centralt innehåll - Vad ska du arbeta med?

Tou are going to be evaluated through kommunikation tasks in class, Reading exercises of different kinds of texts about family and listening exercises.

Now, some things written in Swedish so you can easily grap the meaning of this them that you are going to work with for at least 4 weeks.

Du ska öva på att kommunicera på målspråket

Lyssna på texter, reflektera över dem och producera egna själv. 

 

 

3. Arbetssätt - Hur ska du arbeta?

You are not only going to work with our English book "Happy 8b and workbook" but also with Clio, Study and The analysis of videos from Youtube and see the film "Bend it like Beckham"

We see at a You tube video Parents & Children. 

You are also going to work with vocabulary connected with the theme Family.

Finally, you are going to learn the use of adjectives and adverbs.

 

4. Hjälp - Hur får du stöd för att klara arbetet?

Presentera hur på vilka sätt som eleven kan få det stöd som den behöver för att klara uppgifterna.

Tänk på att få med både stöd från dig som lärare, elevassistent om det finns samt det stöd eleven kan få av andra elever genom exempelvis grupparbete och gruppdiskussioner. Kommer någon annan lärare in och stöttar under lektionen? Kan eleven använda läxhjälpen? Kan eleven arbeta vidare på lovskola (gäller svenska, matematik och engelska).

5. Redovisningsform - Hur och när ska du visa vad du kan?

You are going to write "A Letter to my Family", have a homework test on the current vocabulary and adjectives and adverbs. There is also a bigger test to do for you about the papers we read connected to family.
