VIP: English Speaking People Who Shaped the World A project about VIPs (Very Important People), from different English speaking countries who have in some way made a big impact on the world around us. The goal is to get a better general knowledge about these famous people and to improve your reading, listening, vocabulary and presentation skills. We will also practice listening and reading, and do listening comprehension tests and reading comprehension tests on this topic.

INTRODUCTION 

During weeks 34-39 we are going to work with a project about VIPs (Very Important People), from different English speaking countries who have in some way made a big impact on the world around us. The goal is to get a better general knowledge (allmänbildning) about these famous people and to improve your vocabulary and presentation skills (muntlig framställning). 

 

We will also practice listening and reading, and do listening comprehension tests and reading comprehension tests on this topic.

WHAT TO DO: 

Prepare a KeyNote/Google presentation/Film of 3-4 minutes maximum about your VIP, with key words and photos and perhaps a short sound clip or video clip. 

 

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR PRESENTATION:

An interesting start, for example with a question/quote/photo etc about who the person is.

 

Short general facts (30 seconds - 1 minute): year and place of birth, family, early life, studies.

Profession and success, or other important events: Why is the person famous? What influence have they had on their time and on our time and perhaps will have for the future? What if they had never existed? Why are they interesting and necessary to know about? Also, find a short video/talk show/film/interview with or about your VIP.
