You will be learning about the USA and Canada. You will individually work with one state and you will get information and learn about Canada from your teacher. We are going to work with this w.39-47.

 

Your goals

       You will:   

• get to know a quite a few things about your state through films and texts

• be able to compare with another state by using the facts you will learn and by using earlier knowledge and own experience

• be well prepared and tell a story – not details - about your state, only with the help of photos in a Power point, using your best language

• evaluate this work

INSTRUCTIONS - Speaking presentation

You are going to:

• make a Power Point with ONLY PICTURES (= your keywords) and between 9-12 slides
• the presentation should be about 5 min

The PowerPoint should include:
 - Front page; name of state and pictures
- 2-3 slides with "short facts" (population, statehood, capital, what the state-name means etc. Use the sheet with information you have worked with)
- 1-2 slides about things to see and do 
- 2-3 slides about 1 or 2 topics of your choice (food, sports, music, death penalty, schools, famous people, fashion etc)
- 1 slide "interview with a local"
- 1 slide "Crazy laws". Present 2-3 crazy laws from your state. 
- 1 slide comparison with Canada or Sweden 

 
INSTRUCTIONS - Writing a text

You are going to write a text, in which you:

• Compare your state to another state/or states (and/or Canada), as well as Sweden - describe, explain and motivate the reasons for things being similar and/or different. Use the topics you used in your Speaking presentation!
• Discuss both positive and negative matters, by describing, giving examples and your personal reflections, as well as motivating your thoughts.
• Are allowed to have a mind-map while writing the text– but ONLY with keywords with facts (no sentences or phrases).
• Will be writing the text on a paper or computer - the whole lesson. The text should be about 1 page, no more than 1½ page.

 

Examination

1. Speaking presentation write a text The presentation should be about 5 min and is due week 45-46.

2. Write a text in which you describe, give examples and your personal reflections, motivate and compare your state to other states and/or Canada, as well as Sweden. Are due to Thursday w.46.
