English 8E VT 21

This is the current plan for our spring term. However, depending on whether we will continue with distance education or not, this may change at any point.

Current events in the US - week 2-6

With the attacks on the Capitol in the US we will spend some time looking further at the political and social situation in the country and try to understand why it is the way it is. 

Podcast - week 8-10

You will create your own podcasts on a topic that you find interesting, we will work in pairs but if you want to you can make a podcast by yourself. 

Book circles - week 11-16

To feed two birds with one seed we will read and discuss books in small groups to practice both reading and speaking in English. Within your group you will have different roles that change each week; The Discussion Leader, The Word Finder, The Character Describer, The Summarizer , The Environmental describer.

Indigenous America - week 16-19

Before the European colonization of the United States of America there were already millions of people living there. These people had different languages and different cultures. We will read texts and watch clips about what life is like for some of the indigenous groups today. We will also have a book project where we read "The absolutely true diary of a part time Indian".

The West Indies - week 21-24

We will learn a bit about the history of the West Indies as well as what life is like there today.
