• Spelet utspelar sig på olika bloggar och webbsidor. En del är verkliga, men de flesta är skapade till spelet. Personerna och berättelserna är påhittade.

• Ni ska följa ledtrådar och klicka på länkar som leder till nya webbsidor. Spelet består av både text och filmklipp.

• Symbolen som indikerar att ni fortfarande är inne i spelet är en kanin. Symbolen finns alltid överst till vänster på sidorna. Den syns även längst ner på sidan under fliken Shameless.
• Alla kanske inte kommer hinna besöka alla webbsidor i spelet.
• På spelets sista webbsida finns en ruta att klicka på för att lämna spelet.
• Ni ska tänka på vad det ni ser och läser, eftersom vi kommer att diskutera spelupplevelsen och innehållet nästkommande lektion (Friday).

Reflection Questions

• What did you think about the game? What emotions did it arouse in you? What was good about the game? What was difficult?

• Was there a page that you spent more time on because you thought it was interesting or exciting? Explain why.

• What do you feel about Shameless’, or Kim’s, situation? Do you sympathize with her? Who is she? What do you think she wants to tell us about our society? Explain.

• Why do you think Shameless chooses to blog with such a sharp sense of humor about things that are actually very serious?

Analytical Questions

• In what country do you think Shameless’ story takes place? What makes you think that?

• How did Shameless’ family end up in such a difficult situation? What happened? What would you do if you were in Shameless’ place? Explain.

• Why does Shameless call her blog “Fashion by Shameless”? What does the name Shameless mean? Why does she call herself that?

• What similarities and differences are there between Shameless’ blog and real blogs written by teenage girls today? Do you know of any real-life equivalent to Shameless’ blog?

• Why do you think that Shameless chose to be anonymous? What would have happened if she had chosen to be open about who she really is?

• What do you think of Shameless’ letter to the politicians? Do you think the letter could encourage

decision-makers to think twice and maybe even change decisions that they have made?

• How is poverty described in the game?

• What do you think about the stories and narratives about slums in Brazil and Kenya? Did anything in particular stand out to you? What made the strongest impression?

• What do you think Shameless’ closing words mean? Can they be interpreted in different ways? Explain.

• What do you think about the fact that Shameless stopped blogging and revealed her true identity - Kim? Do you think the game should have ended differently? How?

• What are human rights? What is the relationship between human rights and Shameless’ story?

• Can anyone end up in Shameless’ situation? Why/why not? What can be done about it?

• Can we say that Shameless is poor? When is a person considered poor? Can poverty mean different things depending on where in the world a person lives? Is poverty relative to the society a person lives in?

• What does it mean to be homeless in Sweden?

• How would you describe poverty? (Ask the students for several indicators or aspects of poverty.) Poverty is not just about a lack of resources. What other factors cause poverty, factors directly related to human rights? In what ways can power-holders contribute to the rise of poverty or help to reduce poverty? What types of political decisions are important for people to participate in?

• How are Roma peoples’ situation presented in the game? In which way are Roma people a particularly discriminated group in Europe? Why do you think this is?

• What other examples of discrimination are mentioned in the game?

Instructions for how to do your movie

• You will choose 1 or 2 articles from the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Article 2; Non-Discrimination

All rights apply to all children without exception. It is the State’s obligation to protect children from any form of discrimination and to take positive action to promote their rights.

Article 3; Best interests of the child

All actions concerning the child shall take full account of his or her best interests. The State shall provide the child with adequate care when parents, or others charged with that responsibility, fail to do so.

Article 7; Name and nationality

The child has the right to a name at birth. The child also has the right to acquire a nationality and, as far as possible, to know his or her parents and be cared for by them.

Article 9; Separation from parents

The child has a right to live with his or her parents unless this is deemed to be incompatible with the child’s best interests. The child also has the right to maintain contact with both parents if separated from one or both.

Article 13; Freedom of expression

The child has the right to express his or her views, obtain information, make ideas or information known, regardless of frontiers.

Article 14; Freedom of thought, conscience and religion

The State shall respect the child’s right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, subject to appropriate parental guidance.

Article 31; Leisure, recreation and cultural activities

The child has the right to leisure, play and participation in cultural and artistic activities.

Article 32; Child labour

The child has the right to be protected from work that threatens his or her health, education or development. The State shall set minimum ages for employment and regulate working conditions.

• Write a manuscript in your group for a movie on your article/s.
  The movie will be approximately (ungefär) 3 minutes.
• Your movie has to include;

- What is the article/s about? Show & tell so it´s easy to understand the meaning of the article/s.

- Show a positive and a negative examples on the article/s.

- Why is this article important?

- What consequence/s will follow if someone doesn´t follow this?
