Writing & Speaking, week 35-36, 8th grade

Syfte

Centralt innehåll

The lessons (arbetsprocess och lektionstid)

During 4 lessons you will work with your writing skills, by writing a text in English. You will also practice speaking English, making an interview with a friend.

You are free to choose the tool you like for handing in your text and movie, for example Pages, iMovie, or Keynote if you want to include both text and movie.

 To find words you can use the apps iTranslate or google translate.

You will be given a short introduction to the rules of writing, to help you when you write your text.

 

 

The interview

Work with one subject at a time and interview your friend about:

Friends

• Best friends
• Old friends/new friends
• What do you do together with your friends?
• Favourite thing/s to do
• What is the most important trait for a friend to have?

 

Vacation

• Favourite vacation
• Where and when?
• Weather?
• With whom?
• What did you do?
• Funniest/most interesting thing/s?

 

Big events

• What happened?
• Where and when?
• With whom?
• Funniest/most interesting thing/s?
• Special equipments and/or clothing?
• Other funny/interesting event/s?

 

Dreams

• What is your dream/s?
• Why?
• Would your dream be possible? Why/why not?
• Other dream/s?

 

Animals

• Favourite animal/s?
• Why?
• Appearance?
• Food?
• Wild/domestic?
• Habitat?

 

Books and movies

• What is/are your favourite book? Why?
• Characters?
• Story?
• What is your favourite movie? Why?
• Characters?
• Story?

 

Change roles, so both of you are the interviewer and the one being interviewed. 

Make it a talk show if you like! One is the host and the other one is the interesting guest! 

Your text (individual writing)

You can write about whatever interests you. The text has to be at least 1/2 page on Pages. 

Here are some examples of subjects you can write/talk about:

• my summer
• my idol
• my family
• my spare-time
• my dreams for the future

Assignments to hand in:

- Individually: week 35: a text about your chosen subject to your teacher. Hand in on Showbie. - In pairs (2 ppl): week 36: a movie where you have interviewed each other. Send it to your teacher by email; hand in on Showbie or upload to youtube and send the link.
