MUSIC - chapter 1 in Happy 9 as well as other activities and assignments connected to the theme.

We will work with the first chapter in Happy 9: Music. Each week we work with a new text and practice reading, listening, speaking and writing.  Homework is a written or spoken task- see below. The first tasks are practice where you get valuable feedback from your teachers. The last two tasks: Week 42, a written blog post, and week 43, a retelling, are made in school and then your ability to write and to speak will be graded. Week 45 we will also start practicing reading and listening comprehension from old National Tests (NP). We practice one round and then you will do one test that will be graded.

Week 38 It started with the King.
Homework: Make a summary of the content of about 100-150 words.

Week 39 Just Sixteen
Homework: Interview one (or both) of your parents about what it was like when he/she was 16 years old. Prepare your questions first. You can ask, for example, about what clothes they wore, what music they listened to, what school was like, and what they did in their free time. Which songs and films were at the top of the charts that year? Think of more questions to ask.
You do a recording (2-5 minutes long) in iMovie where you tell us what you found out.

Week 40 Singing Means Everything- Or Does it?
Homework: Write a blog post about:

  • What is your favorite song? Why?
  • Who is your favorite artist? Why?
  • Has your taste in music changed since you were in the seventh grade? If so, in what way and why?
  • Do you listen to the lyrics (låttexter)? Are they important? Why/Why not?
Week 41: Two Weeks with The Beatles
Homework: One Day with ...
Write a text (150 words) or do a recording (2-5 minutes) and tell us which artist or famous person you would like to spend a day with and what you would do.  Money is no object! Let your imagination and dreams free!

Week 42 Watching music
Homework: Prepare to write a blog post (about 150 words) with you opinion on music videos or MTV. Do think they enhance the music? Give examples of music videos you like and disklike and tell us why you think this. Do you think the content of music videos often is too violent and sexist? Why is it so? What can we do about it?
This task will be written in school and it will be graded.

Week 43: Live Aid and Live 8 & Most Interesting Pop Facts Ever
Homework: Prepare to retell about one of the concerts,  Live Aid or Live 8 , or one of the Most Interesting Pop Facts Ever.  The retelling will be made in school and will be graded.

Week 45: Reading and listening comprehension
