Who should I listen to? Who has the ultimate truth? Should I live by my own standards or should I follow others' advice? Let's try and see if we can find an answer to these questions!

Project grade 8, Fall 2017

 

Body and soul

 

Nowadays there are so many opinions, scientific research, TV talk programs, newspaper articles, and many more that tell us how to live, what is healthy food and what is not, how and when is the best time to sleep, what are the ideal weight, the ideal body or the ideal haircut....

 

My question is: Who should I listen to? Who has the ultimate truth?

Should I live by my own standards or should I follow others' advice?

Let's try and see if we can find an answer to these questions!

Hopefully, during working with this project we will learn what is good for us and what can damage either our body or/and our soul/mind.

 

The next 5 weeks we are going to work with texts that deal with this topics.

Fit and healthy for life (p 38)

The (un)healthy ideal (p.44)

Healthy snacks (46)

Why do you sleep? (50)

SKIN (48-49)

 

All these texts are to be found in your TB; with some we will work intesively (read and translate them, glosary, discussions). With others you will read for the sake of finding more info that will help you to accomplish the project.

We will also work with exercises in WB

 

While going through the texts and exercises your task will be to come up with a plan/theme for a poster that will be included in your presentation on the 5th of October.

 

 

 

Goals:

 

-to enrich your vocabulary so that you can talk and write about this topics:

health, body, mind and soul.

 

When finishing this work you are supposed to:

 

-write a text on a given subject

-work with an interview (details in due time).

-make posters that will be shown on the final date of the project, the 5th of october.

 

Assessment:

 

This is what I will grade:

 

-how you work during these 5 weeks.

-results on quizes (glosary and other stuff)

-participation to discussions in class.

-the text.

-the interview

-the final product of the project.
