My Five Senses

Grundskola 1 – 3 NO (år 1-3)
You use them every day to get to know and understand the world around you. What are they? Your senses! The five senses — seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching — help us to learn about our surroundings. The following unit will help students to explore their senses.

Innehåll

Goals

To be able to identify basic body parts (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hands) and their functions.

To be able to investigate how the five senses provide information.

To be able to use their senses of seeing, hearing, touching, and smelling to describe different places around the school.

 

Activities in the Unit Include:

 

Exploring how our 5 senses work and what kinds of information they tell us through lab work.

Watching videos about how body parts that are related to the 5 senses work. 

Making a stethoscope to listen to a heart.

Writing a My Five Senses Journal.

Making a 5 - Senses Mask.

Learning songs and rhymes to help memorise vocabulary.

Finding things students can use their five senses with at home and writing them using the Five Senses Recording Sheet with their family.

Working with science experiments, recording their data, and interpreting their results. 

 

How the Learning Will be Assessed

How well you can listen and focus on the information in films.

How well you were able to work cooperatively in groups and with partners.

How well you are able to respond during class discussions and when working in groups or pairs.

How well you were able to follow instructions.

How logically you were able to draw and write in the My Five Senses Journal.
