Repurpose

A general definition of repurposing could be to use something, anything, with a different purpose than it was initially designed for. Under few English and Art lessons you will put your knowledge about recycling into action. You will use your wide imagination and creativity to upcycle some second-hand products that you will choose during our school visit to a second-hand shop.

In cooperation with your Art and English teachers, you will repurpose ready-made used products. The goals of this plan is to put the theoretical knowledge that you have got of your previous plan "Trash or Treasure" into practice. You will cooperate with your friends in a group of 4 to make a trash art.

Learning goals

• Enhance your thoughts about a sustainable lifestyle for a better future.

• Express and apply your creative ideas to repurpose second-hand products.

• Adapt English language in different situations, and for different purposes.

• Share your knowledge and skills with your classmates and work effectively in a group.

The way of work

• You will visit a second-hand shop "Ta till vara" in the week 16. You will take an idea about their organisation and work. You will choose a product that you like to repurpose and share your freinds to make eventually a piece of art together.
• You will work on this Project in both English and Art lessons (approx. 3 to 4 lessons).

You will be graded for:

• Your participation in discussions
• Your cooperation with your friends
• Your communication skills (speaking and listening)
• Your presentation of the upcycled work of art when finished- for more info. see the attached uppgift.

Uppgifter

Repurpose task

The way of work: 1- You will visit a second hand shop at the 19th of April, 2018. 2- You will choose one product for repurposing. You will discuss with your friends how you can together make a "Trash art". 3- You will work on your art project together in the assigned group. 4- Each Group will have: 4- 1- a PowerPoint designer: who is responsible to create the Powerpoint, gather info. from the groupmates, and the decide the final design of it. 4- 2- a Photographer who is responsible to take photos Before/after and write the comments and send to the designer. 4- 3- a writer who is responsible of writing in the PP and getting supportive info. (source) and sending them to the designer. 4- 4- an Artist who will take care of the art design, represent the idea and the theme of the repurposed materials, clarify the purpose of upcycling and the importance of it. 5- You will present your trash art together with your classmates in the group with the help of a PP (1- Take a picture to the product before/ after upcycling. 2. Take more pictures for the product or yourselves if you want under the working process. 3- Describe the product before and after transformation. 4- Illustrate the importance of recycling, the advantages of recycling and the disadvantages of overproducing and overconsuming Products. 5- End up your presentation with a proper conclusion.
