  • Your book you have chosen/fully charged Ipad
  • Optional if you will write down words, sentences, reflections etc. by hand, then you need a pencil

Lessons

In discussion with me you will choose and read a book in English. You choose to read a traditional book from school, Storytel, Elib etc. It is up to you as long as you feel it is not too easy and/or difficult. Every student will write down its book so I know what you read. Before you start feel free to look up a book you would like to read.

You are responsible you will follow the schedule by reading your book and do the tasks. When you read you write down reflections, look up words, verb tenses and start with the summary. You hand in your summary here at Unikum.

 Schedule book reading:

Week 49 -    Read, work with words, take notes and make reflections from the book

Week 51-3 - Read and work with summary

Week 4 -      Finish summary and go through response list and linking list and hand in your text (Unikum)

Week 5 -      Work with speaking exercise and hand in your recording (Thursday)

This  is what  you can do while  you  are

reading:

  • Pick  out at least 15 new  words and write them down each. You also make an explanation in English what it means.
  • Pick 30 verbs from the book in One Note. Divide the verbs into regular (-ed) and irregular. Then you write the three irregular verb tenses.
  • Write down what happens and describe the characters at least once a week

 Summary:

* Short description (beskrivning) of the book - Tell me about your book you have read. What happened? Where does it take place? When does it take place? What kind of book is it (romantic, history, comedy, exciting) and how do you know that?

* Characters - Describe at least two characters in the book. Tell me about the characters' look, habits (vanor), personality etc. Is your characters good/evil and why? Do they change during the book and in that case how?

* Your opinions (åsikter) - What do you think about the book and why? Is it sad, boring, funny, exciting and/or interesting? Is it good/bad and why?

When you have written your summary you follow the response list.

Response list:

* Correct vocabulary in the sentence (she’s/her, which/witch, meet/meat)

* Grammar mistakes (is/are, was/were, have/has, wordorder, verb tenses)

* Spelling mistakes (whit = with, to/too, your/you’re, its/it’s, meat/meet

* Spoken and written language (gonna-going to, wanna-want to, you-u)

* Then make sure you have; - a capital (stor) letter in the beginning of every sentence and capital letter on I in a sentence. - dot (punkt) in the end of every sentence - Not too long sentences, use dots and commas

* If you use abbreviations (förkortningar) (it’s, wasn’t etc., make sure you put the apostrophe in the right place (not its). If you are unsure about how to use abbreviations, just write it is, was not etc.

* Look for variation in your text How to begin a sentence (not too many I, he, she) You mustn’t begin a sentence with and, because etc. (these are linking words).

* Use a variation of difficult words and expressions.
