Film analysis of Girlhood - Social psychology

The film analysis should be based in concepts and theories of social psychology. Choose three concepts and apply on the film. For example: • obedience, compliance, evil and circumstances • social identity, in-groups/out-groups • social roles, identity formation in connection to for example gender, ethnicity, class • norms, power • stereotype, prejudice, stereotype threat, • social cognitions How could your chosen social psychological theories and concepts explain and analyse the lives of the people in the film? You can go in depth on the leading character, Mariéme, or analyse several characters in the film. Discuss how people are shaped by environment and social contexts according to your chosen social psychology theories? How well do your chosen theories explain feelings, thoughts and behaviour of the characters in the film? The analysis doesn’t have to summarize the film, but be concrete in describing those aspects of the film that you analyse.
