En - Holidays around the world

Holidays - they bring us joy and make us feel good! They give us the opportunity to give thanks, to spend time with family, to reflect and to eat good food!

In the next few classes, you are going to create a brochure about a holiday of your choice. You are going to use the internet to find information about this holiday.

Choose one of the five holidays in the textbook (p. 108 - p. 109), or another holiday that you would like to know more about. 

 

Find information about the holiday on the internet. You can find information about the holiday you choose in texts, articles, videos, pictures, audio sources (podcasts, news), and so on. 

 

You will then create a brochure about the holiday you have chosen, using Pages. 

 

The brochure will have information about: 

 

• When the holiday is celebrated 
• Why is the holiday celebrated
• Where in the world they celebrate the holiday 
• What kind of activities do people do on this holiday? 
• What kind of foods do people prepare and eat? 
• Are there any other specific things people do on this holiday? For example, do they sing or play specific music, do they participate in games, do they receive presents? 

 

MAKE SURE TO SAVE THE SOURCES OF INFORMATION YOU USE IN A PAGES DOCUMENT! 

 

After finishing the brochure, answer the questions about searching and using information from the internet.
