Wings 8 - Section 3: The environment

In this section, we will learn about the environmental issues our planet is facing. We will study global warming, various environmental threats, and why recycling and other eco-friendly habits are important to minimize our environmental footprint.

Vi kommer att arbeta med flera olika texter i boken Wings 8 och bygga upp ordförrådet med ord som handlar om miljön och hur människor påverkar den.

• We will study different texts in Wings year 8 - section 3: Global Warming, Save the Rainforests, Green Cars, Recycling, A Green Day, and What can you do to help? 
• We will learn new grammar structures and practice how to use them
• We will practice reading and listening to English texts and conversations
• We will make presentations about the importance of living sustainably

Green cars

Read and translate the text "Green cars". Choose two types that you like the most and write a short summary about them: what are the good things and what are the bad things about these cars? My Green Day

Think about the environmentally friendly choices you make in your daily life. Create a short video where you describe these choices. Also include a short commentary on what you believe you could or would like to improve in being more "green" in your daily life. Post your video on Seesaw.

Presentation: An environmental organization

Work in groups of two. Choose an environmental organization and find as many interesting facts about it as possible. Make sure to find answers to these questions to help with your presentation: 1. When and how did the organization start? 2. How did the organization get its name? 3. What is the aim of the organization? 4. Where does the organization get its money from? 5. What activities/campaigns has the organization taken part in? You may use Powerpoint to add some visual help to your presentation. You may ONLY use photos/pictures in your PP, the rest of the information should be in your spoken presentation.
