Our “What to do-list”:

Below you will some short info about the different exercises we will do to improve your English and to learn new words and different aspects of  media in our society.

Grammar units:

Present Continuous – Pågående presens (nutid) WB pages 28-29

Past Continuous – pågående preteritum  (dåtid) WB  pages 30-32

Prepositions + ing-form – prepositioner +ingform WB pages 34-35

 

Oral assignments:

Assignments:

·         Have discussions in groups and class about social media.

The discussions will be about social media and their effects on our lives today, benefits and drawbacks et cetera

·         You will work in groups of 3-4 and perform a roleplay/dialogue

Roleplays in groups of 3 or 4: talk about a movie or TV-show where you use your own interests and the textbook as inspiration.

I will look at your ability to:

communicate with others using a suitable language.

ask and answer questions.

follow up on what others are saying and expanding on it.

use suitable words and phrases that connect to the topic at hand.

explain what you mean and give clear examples.

 

I will be looking at your ability to communicate in way that your classmates understand and is suitable for the different situations. This means that you should be able to explain your opinion and motivate it with clear examples and using words and phrases that connects to the topic. I will also check that you can keep a conversation going by asking and answering questions and follow up on what others are saying, showing that you understand what the others are saying.

 

Reading and listening comprehension:

Assignments:

·         answer questions to different texts and audio.

·         retell and summarize what you read and listen to.

 

We will work with different texts and other media to improve our understanding.We will develop our ability to talk and write about the things we read and hear. Through your answers and ability to retell and reiterate (upprepa) you will be able to show me how well you comprehend the contents of the material.

 

Writing

Assignment:

·         write your own news article.

This time we will focus on writing a news article about something media related, a new movie/book/game release or upcoming events, or new trends

You will practise on writing using a bit more formal language suitable for a newspaper. We will look at different examples from a couple of magazines and papers.

 

Vocabulary and other content

Our aim is to increase the vocabulary and types of phrases we use to be able to speak fluently about aspects relating to different types of media. You should also learn a bit about different magazines that are popular in English speaking countries, mainly from the US and the UK. You should also learn a bit about how media has developed and changed through the years.
