The Environment

During the first part of the term we will learn about the environment! We will work with the textbook and workbook to develop our abilities to speak, read, listen and write. We will also listen to other media and watch short films related to the theme. In your workbook, you will also find a grammar section that we will take a closer look at.

Working with this section will involve the following:

Read texts that are focusing on different aspects of the environment. You will have the opportunity to work with your classmates and teachers to really grasp the texts and learn new words and phrases. You are working with sustainability/sustainable development (hållbar utveckling) and environmental issues (miljöfrågor) in other subjects too, like science/biology and social science (samhällskunskap) as well as domestic science (hemkunskap). In English, the main focus will be on learning the vocabulary, so you can read, listen, speak and write about environmental issues. 

You will participate in discussions based on the new information you have gained and also be able to speak your own opinion and listen to others.

Different types of listening. You will hear the spoken language in the classroom – both teachers and fellow students; listening to the texts being read to you; specific listening comprehensions; watching short films about the environment.

You will also write a five-paragraph essay about the environment.
