English around the world - oral presentation in mixed groups

What do you know about India or Zambia? What can you learn about an English speaking country and then sharing the information with others in a group? What can you learn yourself from the other students' presentations?

You will be assigned an English speaking country from your textbook to work with. You use information from the book, added with some more information/facts that you find in other books or from the internet, and then you do a presentation in a small group. In this group you will also listen to presentations of other countries.

After the presentations, you will have a discussion about different subjects.

You are going to make an oral presentation in a small group, about an Englih speaking country, give your own thoughts about it and compare to what it's like in Sweden. Your presentation will be recorded on an iPad.

1. You'll get the name of a country from your teacher.

2. During the first lessons: Read in your textbook the pages about "your" country and choose which information you want to use in your presentation. You can also take information from other books and search on the internet. 

3. Make sure that you give your own thoughts about the country. You also compare some things to what it's like in Sweden. 

4. Assemble your facts into a presentation. Make sure that you don't read from a text, by only writing down headlines or key words as help to your presentation.

5. When all presentations are finished, you will get some questions to talk more freely about. Make sure you are a part of the discussion, by giving information of your own och commenting what other people in the group say.

6. All presentations, and the discussion afterwards, will be recorded on an iPad.

Remember:

- Only use material that is okay to use. You find a lot in your textbook.

- Use your own words.

- Use reliable sources.

- Use your time wisely. Don't spend too many lessons just finding facts but make sure you write down information you want to use.
