Bå åk 8 South Africa and Nelson Mandela

During the coming weeks we are going to focus on South Africa, which is a very beautiful country with its magnificent nature, varied animal life and colourful culture. Unfortunately South Africa is also a country with a dark history. For many years the country was governed by a political system, called "apartheid" with laws that discriminated and oppressed the black people. A hero of our time is Nelson Mandela. He is one of those people who has made the world a better place. In our work we will learn about the country but also work individually about a hero/heroine in our world.

During the next few weeks we are going to work with South Africa and Nelson Mandela. The focus will be on both facts about the country and about apartheid and Nelson Mandelas fight against segregation.

While working with this theme you will be able to improve your ability to listen, discuss, write/translate and to give an oral presentation.

We are going to se different films and documentaries on SLI, work with study questions, work in groups and watch a movie in the end.
