During the following weeks, we are going to read and listen to the book “The Absolute True Diary of a Part Time Indian”. We will use an online novel so you can choose to read or listen to the novel or mix between the two. We will also read texts, do listening exercises and watch clips and discuss the situation of Native Americans in the U.S.A.

3	Pre- reading exercises	We’ll read/listen to chapters 1 and 2. Work with reading comprehension (3) Homework: Read chapters 2-5 (p. 7-43) at home
4	We’ll read/listen to chapters 6 – 11 together (p. 44-81)   Homework: Read chapters 12-15 (p.82-113) at home.	We’ll read/listen to chapters 16 – 19 (p. 114-134) Listening exercise – Children of the plains. (7) Homework: Read chapters 20 – 22 (p.135-158) at home.
5	We’ll read/listen to chapters 23 – 24 (p.156-178) Listening exercise – Interview with Sherman Alexie Homework: Read chapter 25- 26 (p.179-198) at home	We finish reading the book, chapters 27 (p.199-213) Homework: Finish the book, chapters 28-30 (p.214-230)
6	Group discussion (After you read) Intro on the speech You will be given a task to prepare. (5) Start working on your speech	Continue working with your oral presentations.

  Arbetsform: Vi varvar läsning/lyssning under lektionstid med läsning hemma. Viktigt att du följer takten och läser det du ska hemma. Du kommer         att göra en muntlig presentation och skriva en uppsats kring temat för boken.

 

Litteratur: Vi läser boken ”The Absolutely True Diary of a part-time Indian” av Sherman Alexie. The text will be available on this website, you will need to bring your Ipad for every class to follow along in the text as we listen.

• Olika former av samtal, dialoger, intervjuer och muntliga framställningar.
• Skönlitteratur och annan fiktion även i talad, dramatiserad och filmatiserad form.
• Språkliga företeelser som uttal, intonation, grammatiska strukturer, satsbyggnad, ord med olika stilvärden samt fasta språkliga uttryck i det språk eleverna möter.
• Olika sätt att bearbeta egna framställningar för att variera, tydliggöra, precisera och anpassa dem efter deras syften.
• Språkliga strategier för att förstå och göra sig förstådd när språket inte räcker till, till exempel omformuleringar, frågor och förklaringar.
