English and Astronomy!

 

This is going to be a work both in English

and in Physics.

 The topic English are supposed to challenge your knowledge in the English language and knowledge in and around areas where English is used and you as a student can use all your abilities to how you use the English language in different kind of situations and for different kind of meaning.

 

Content from the LGr 11!

• Current and for the pupils known disciplines.

• Spoken English and texts from different media.

You are going to make a proper poster with a lot of facts of the topic you´ve chosen. You are going to get grades from both Physics and English. See the last paper with grades.

You are doing an individual work about astronomy.

Exercise:      

1.     Choose one of the topics.

2.     Gather as much facts as you need.

3.     Answer the questions.

4.     Make a poster on the topic that you have chosen.

5.     Write down your sources. Very important!

6.     Hand in a paper, 250 – 400 words, one A4, about your topic. Write about your conclusions and what you´ve written about. See e-mail below. Send it to: [e-mail]

 

Presentation: The poster must go on the wall, we mingle around and make good comments about the fact and the paintings. Presentation week 6-7.

Time:            Week 2 – 6, presentation week 6 and 7.

 Answer the following questions; Be sure to fill your poster with facts and pictures/hand-drawn models.

1.     Take eight or more of the following questions and answer them in detail:

·       Explain what it is.

·       Give detailed facts about your topic

·       Where is it.

·       How long have we known about it?

·       What does it do.

·       How far away is it?

·       Is it dangerous?

·       Have we learned something from it?

·       Does it help humans?

·       How does it work?

·       How can it send information so far?

·       When do we lose it (space probes)?

·       When did we lose it (space probes)?

 

Remember to answer the questions properly. You are going to fill a poster with pictures, models and text in English.

2.     The Major Terrestrial planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars. Do not write about Earth.

3.     Our Moon.

4.     The Jovian planets, Saturn, Neptune, and their moons.

5.     The Jovian planets, Jupiter, Uranus, and their moons.

 

6.     Gravitation, Einstein’s about the shape and flow in time.

7.     The Big Bang, did it start like that.

8.     SETI, research on life in Universe.

9.     Meteors, interplanetary vagabonds. Small!

10.  Comets and Rosetta, a space probe.

 

11.  Asteroids, interplanetary vagabonds. Big, Huge!

12.  Voyager I, II, and Pioneer 10, 11 space probes, left our solar system.

13.  Curiosity, a space craft, landing on Mars.

14.  Cassini and Huygens space crafts, Saturn.

15.  Juno space craft, Jupiter.

 

16.  The Milky Way Galaxy, our galaxy.

17.  Galaxies, other in the Universe.

18.  Supernova, an exploding star.

19.  Pulsar, neutron stars.

20.  Nebulae or Red Giants, low-mass stars.
