You will be asked to give your opinion on a number of topics relating to immigration and integration in Sweden.

In groups, you will be given the chance to add your opinion on a statement connected to immigration and integration in Sweden. You will be told beforehand which side you will be on, either for or against. You will be given a short amount of time in groups to discuss your standpoint.This is a good chance to practice making your voice heard, and you will be graded on your ability to make a point, and to move the debate forward. Some of the statements you might be asked to discuss are:

Immigrants who commit a crime within 12 months of arrival should be deported

Immigrants should pass a Swedish language test to gain citizenship

Immigrants should pass a test about Swedish culture to gain citizenship

Immigrants should only stay in Sweden if they have guaranteed financial support for the first 12 months

Certain Swedish citizens should be assigned the task of ‘adopting’ a newly arrived immigrant and help them to acclimatize

Swedish should be the only language spoken at daycare

Swedish language lessons should only be taught by native Swedes.

If an immigrant speaks to you in English you should only reply in Swedish

Kriterier

• Eleven kan med en ändamålsenlig och effektiv kombination av vardagsrelaterat och ämnesrelaterat språk samtala om och diskutera varierande ämnen på ett välutvecklat sätt.
• I sådana situationer kan eleven ställa frågor och framföra åsikter med välutvecklade och väl underbyggda argument på ett sätt som för samtalen och diskussionerna framåt och fördjupar eller breddar dem.
